Celebrating 15 years
25th June 2019
While Nikki and Tom are in London for the 2019 Global Offshore Wind event, today’s announcement of a £100m investment into UK offshore promises significant growth for the sector.
According to figures published by the BBC, “by 2030 the offshore wind power market is expected to be worth £30bn per year, with the UK expected to be generating a third of its electricity from wind”.
Recent reports from the National Grid show Britain to now be obtaining more power from zero-carbon sources, than fossil fuels. A recorded first since the Industrial Revolution.
“It’s positive to see this level of UK investment into clean, alternative energy – and an expanding marketplace creating new, exciting technology” commented Tom Hardy, Engain’s principal environmental consultant.
“We’re seeing big changes to the ways in which energy companies are planning for the coming years and are pleased to be working with some of the sector’s most dynamic operators.”
Organised by RenewableUK, Global Offshore Wind is a two-day event, bringing together operators and influencers from across the international market.
